The Virginia Writers Club (VWC) is now accepting registration for its annual Symposium, "Navigating Your Writing Life 2012," on Saturday, August 4, 2012, from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm, at The Dickinson Fine & Performing Arts Center, Piedmont Virginia Community College, Charlottesville, Virginia.
The Symposium is for writers of all ages and at all stages in their writing life. Sessions will include discussions on showing and telling in prose and dialogue; marketing for authors with e-books; the craft of writing mysteries; getting from page to screen or stage; tips on creating great characters, plot, voice and setting; setting up and guiding critique groups; and creating a hook in the first paragraph.
Charles J. Shields, New York Times best selling biographer of Mockingbird: A Portrait of Harper Lee and And So It Goes: Kurt Vonnegut: A Life, will be the keynote speaker. Other bestselling authors will be sharing their expertise as presenters at the symposium’s information sessions.
Prices for the day-long event are $75 for VWC members and $85 for non-members. Additional discounts for teens, college and university students and teachers are available. Register online at www.virginiawritersclub.org. Payments can be made through a PayPal account or by check. Keep up with developing symposium news at www.facebook.com/virginiawritersclub.
Seating is limited. Reservations are required.
